Does Android 12 perform better than Android 11?

Android 12 is the 19th version and twelfth major release of the mobile operating system created by the Open Handset Alliance, which is headed by Google. On May 18, 2021, the first beta was made available. Through the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Android 12 was made available to the general public on October 4, 2021, and to Google Pixel smartphones on October 19, 2021.

What key differences do Android 12 and Android 11 have from one another? Unfortunately, Android has abandoned its previous name practises, where Android 5 was known as Lollipop and Android 8 as Oreo. The Android operating system is still being updated, even if Google no longer refers to its versions of Android as Delicious Desserts.

What major changes exist between Android 12 and Android 11?

In comparison to Android 11, Android 12 is more configurable and customised for you and has more of an emphasis on performance and privacy. If you’re familiar with Apple’s most recent iOS versions’ personalisation features, Google appears to be emulating those in its most recent Android release.

There are many changes going on underneath the surface, even while the updated user interface, which Google is calling Material You, is one of the more obvious ones. Battery life, privacy and security, and other performance feature all received upgrades. Let’s now dig into the details!

In addition to enhancing the interoperability of all your devices, Android 12 expands on everything you love about Android by putting a special emphasis on making a phone that is really personalised and adapts to you.

An Attractive New UI

The long-awaited upgrade for Android users is called Material You. You can finally modify the appearance of several app icons and widgets with this user interface update, allowing you to personalise your phone’s UI even more.

Then, you can choose a special colour scheme for your phone that will be displayed everywhere. A message asking if you want to alter your colour scheme will appear if you change your background. Your phone’s buttons, brightness, buttons for notifications, and several locations in the settings will all change colour as a result.

Privacy and Security

User privacy is a priority for Google when developing the Android operating system. Android 11 was secure, but Android 12 improves privacy even more with features that are simple to use.

An alert that appears when your camera or microphone is in use is among the most significant privacy changes. Many people have expressed serious concern over this, and some have gone so far as to cover the camera with a simple sticky note.

You won’t ever have to wonder if someone is monitoring you or listening to you without your permission again thanks to this notification on your status bar, though. With the popularity of video calls, it’s also useful to be aware when the indicators for your camera and microphone vanish, signalling a formal disconnect from the chat.

Fluid motion

Your phone will react to your touch quickly and seamlessly with Android 12 thanks to fluid motion and animations. For instance, your clock will enlarge when you dismiss your alerts on the lock screen, letting you know when you are current. To increase the efficiency and smoothness of your experience, Google has also reduced interactions and completely overhauled the supporting infrastructure. Your gadget will be quicker and more responsive as a result, and its power usage will be better.

More Personalized

Colour extraction is a technique used by Google to determine which colours are dominating, complementary, and just visually appealing. It then applies those colours throughout the entire operating system, including the notification shade, lock screen, volume controls, new widgets, and much more, while choosing a wallpaper.

Battery Life

The Android 12 core system’s handling of services has undergone minor improvements, which will reduce CPU load and lengthen battery life. You can select between a game mode that is geared for battery life or one that is performance-based when playing on mobile devices. If you select Display, your gaming experience will be richer but your battery life will deplete more quickly. Alternatively, you can select Battery Life and the game won’t look or feel as wonderful.

With Android 12, everything seems more approachable. Android is now even more pleasurable to use thanks to its redesigned user interface, and upgrading to Android 12 from another operating system has never been simpler. According to Google, you can transfer all of your crucial data from any phone—including an iPhone—via a single wire or a public Wi-Fi network.

Once you upgrade to Android 12, you’ll also find that your movements and gestures feel more fluid. In addition to the material you’ve modified, you can see what’s open in the background and read your notifications in a notification bar that is simple to read at a glance.

Android 12 Compatible Devices

Although certain phones might have to wait a time, Android 12 will most likely be available for the bulk of phones. Given that the beta is supported by the Pixel 3 and Pixel 4a versions, it is extremely expected to affect every current Pixel device, most likely beginning with the Pixel 3 and continuing through the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

To determine which devices will be the first to receive the final version of Android 12, we may look at the list of suitable devices for the beta. Their names are as follows:

  • Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 / 11 Ultra
  • Xiaomi Mi 11i / 11X Pro
  • TCL 20 Pro 5G
  • Vivo iQOO 7 Legend
  • Sharp Aquos Sense 5G
  • ZTE Axon 30 Ultra (only Chinese models)
  • Pixel 3 to Pixel 5 (including XL and A-series phones)
  • Oppo Find X3 Pro
  • Nokia X20
  • OnePlus 9 / 9 Pro
  • Asus Zenfone 8
  • Realme GT
  • Tecno Camon 17

Is Android 12 an Improvement Over Android 11?

Simply worded, yeah.

But if you’ve a device with low RAM then you’d not be upgrading to Android 12. The Android OS rarely releases a new version that is not an improvement over the previous one. Android version 12 is the same. But it is heavier for low end devices.

Users can anticipate some updates and modifications, such as performance improvements, adjustments to battery life and use, and other unnoticed changes that typically take place in the background. But Android 12 introduced a more distinctive feature than the preceding platforms: a bespoke, customisable UI. Many Android users say that this feature has changed their lives.
