ISO images are a virtual file format that replicates the contents of physical media like CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. Software companies use ISO files to distribute applications, tools, and entire operating systems.
When you mount an ISO image on Windows 11, you can explore its contents without needing the actual physical media. This method of distribution allows software and media to be shared digitally, eliminating the need for physical shipping.
Microsoft also uses ISO images to distribute various versions of its operating system, including Insider editions. At times, you may need to access the files within an ISO image. Here’s how to mount an ISO image on Windows 11.
